Landscape Installation
Landscape installation is the phase where a finalized outdoor plan becomes a finished outdoor space. Once the design is approved and the project scope is set, the installation team takes over: preparing the site, coordinating materials, and executing each component of the project in the right order so everything functions correctly once the work is done.
At Simple Outdoor Living, our installation team works from approved plans and manages the full process from the first day on site through the final walkthrough. That means coordinating every component that goes into a completed outdoor environment, from planting and irrigation to paving, turf, lighting, and outdoor living features, so the end result holds together as a whole rather than a collection of separately installed parts.
Site Preparation
Installation does not start with placing materials. It starts with getting the site ready to receive them. Depending on what the project requires, that includes clearing existing features, handling any demolition the plan calls for, grading to match planned elevations, and preparing drainage and underground utility routes before surface work begins.
Proper site preparation prevents the problems that tend to show up later if it is skipped or rushed. A patio surface that shifts because the base beneath it was not properly compacted, irrigation that backs up because drainage was not worked out before it was installed. Addressing those conditions before any material goes in is what allows the rest of the installation to proceed without having to redo earlier work.
How the Installation Process Works
Most outdoor projects involve multiple components that need to be installed in a specific order. Underground irrigation and lighting wiring go in before paved surfaces are placed. Base preparation is completed before surface materials are delivered. Planting and finish work happen after hardscape is complete so finished surfaces are not damaged by ongoing work around them.
When the installation process is managed correctly, completed work stays protected and the project moves forward without unnecessary delays. Areas that are already finished do not need to be disturbed so other components can be added later, and each stage of the project is completed when the site is ready for it. This helps the project stay organized, reduces the risk of rework, and ensures the finished outdoor space comes together as planned.
What Landscape Installations Include
What goes into a landscape installation depends on the approved project plan. Most installations include a combination of components: planting areas, irrigation systems, artificial grass, paver surfaces, retaining walls, outdoor lighting and outdoor living features such as kitchens, fire elements and shade structures. These are installed as an integrated project, with each component coordinated so it connects correctly to everything around it and the finished space functions the way it was designed to.
Installing Different Types of Outdoor Spaces
Backyard Installations
A full backyard installation brings together paving, planting, turf, lighting, and outdoor living features across the same property and the same project. The installation process manages how those components connect and sequence so the finished backyard functions as a single outdoor environment rather than a set of things that were separately installed at different times.
Front Yard Installations
Front yard installations focus on how the driveway, entry, planting, and paved surfaces read from the street. These projects typically involve fewer components than a full backyard, but require the same attention to how different materials and surfaces meet and transition so the finished front yard looks intentional rather than pieced together.
Outdoor Living and Poolside Installations
Outdoor living and poolside installations involve more infrastructure coordination than most. Wiring, gas connections, drainage, and structural requirements all need to be resolved at the right point in the sequence before surfaces and finishes go in. For poolside work specifically, everything surrounding the pool, paving, planting, lighting, and any adjacent outdoor living areas, needs to account for drainage and how the full backyard connects outward from the water.
New Properties vs Existing Landscapes
Installation conditions vary depending on what is already on the site. A new or fully cleared property gives the team a controlled starting point where everything goes in from a clean base. Installing on an existing property where some features are staying requires working around what is already there. Existing structures, trees, and hardscape need to be protected throughout the project, and new components need to integrate cleanly with what is already in place rather than just being set next to it. We adjust the approach based on what is actually on the ground.
